Sports gala at Gender Studies Deptt held

LAHORE : (Monday, March 28, 2011): Punjab University Department of Gender Studies, in continuation of celebrations of International Women's Day, organized sports gala at the Department. PU Director Sports (female) Shamsa Hashmi was the chief guest of inaugural ceremony.

Later, Director Sports (male) Zafar Rasheed, who was the chief guest of concluding and prize distribution ceremony, distributed certificates and medals to the winning students.

Addressing on the occasion, he said it was of much pleasure to organize extra-curricular activities for intellectual growth of students. He said the maximum participation of students and discipline in sports gala is exemplary and congratulated Chairperson Dr Samar Fatima, faculty members and 2nd semester students.

Dr Samar Fatima said the even was organized in continuation of women's day activities. She said physical fitness was also important for intellectual maturity for students. Separate sports events, including cricket, badminton, one-leg race, tug-of-war etc, for male and females students were organized in which the students enthusiastically participated.
